Derek Jeter Hurricane Batting Trainer

Derek Jeter Hurricane Batting Trainer
By guest author: Leny J

You've heard coaches preach practice, practice, practice. Work hard and good things will happen. But what I find interesting with this concept is that most of the players do work hard and practice practice and practice - but that's all they do - they work hard at practice at practice - which is great. But in my opinion, in order to improve on your game, particularly hitting a baseball, you not only need to work hard at practice but you need to also work hard after practice - on your own time. At home in the back yard, or at the park, or even in your garage. You need to spend time out of practice to work on your skills. There is not enough time during regular practice to fine tune your craft. Taking time for yourself to refine your skill is a must in this day and age of competitive athletics. I've found a great baseball hitting aid to help accomplish this.

Derek Jeter Hurricane Batting Trainer. This machine will help you to improve hitting a baseball. This solo swing training tool is ideal baseball swing trainer for the beginning Little League player to the high school all-star.

This durable machine with its integrated ball and stick means you can practice on your own anytime anywhere -- no more running after balls! It provides you with immediate feedback on bat speed, power and eye hand coordination. It is easy to set-up and transport. Workout in your garage or the backyard. Take it with you to the park and warm-up before the game. Have fun with it.

I'm a husband and a father of two. I enjoy watching all types of sports and spending quality time with my family. I'm also a former youth baseball coach and former president of a local Little League organization.

Practice hard and learn to be a better hitter.

Hitting a Baseball - Finding the Root Cause of a Mechanics Problem

Derek Jeter Baseball Trainers - HurricaneMachine.com
By Nate Barnett

There is nothing more frustrating for a hitter than having a mechanical problem with the baseball swing and not knowing what the issue is or how to find a solution. While I don't have the ability here (nor do you have the patience to sort through it) to discuss all of the root causes to the countless mechanical failures of a baseball swing, I will give you one for today. Of course, you will need to consult with your hitting instructor for more depth and practical baseball drills to help solve the problem I discuss.

Let me point out the biggest lower body problem for hitters. I say the biggest problem in the sense that it does the most damage when trying to hit a baseball effectively.

The Problem: Hips floating forward

At the beginning of the swing, the hitter must begin to transfer some weight from the (presumably balanced) stance position onto his back leg. The weight distribution will then be roughly 60% weight on back leg, and 40% on front leg. Most hitters can do this step quite easily without a lot of baseball drills to assist.

The second movement a hitter makes is to begin to take some of the weight he has loaded onto his back leg and move it forward to create energy (this is the trigger process). At this time the back knee and foot begin to rotate towards the pitcher. This is when the hips floating forward problem begins for most hitters.

The weight that was originally placed on the back leg MUST remain there as the rotation occurs. You can see if this is happening by looking at the angle of the back leg. If there is a bend in the back leg at the knee (during contact with the baseball), there is a good chance this hitter is keeping his weight back. If the back leg is relatively straight when the hitter makes contact with the pitch, then the problem of hip floating forward has occurred. The only reason this happens is that many times younger hitters think they must move towards the baseball and begin turning their body with their rear hip and moving it forward towards the pitcher. This does nothing to create energy, and in fact, destroys the ability to create a quick and powerful swing.

Derek Jeter and His Baseball Psychology

Derek Jeter and His Baseball Psychology
By Nate Barnett

I'm not a Yankees fan. There, I said it. I know that half of you are now finished reading this article, and I'm ok with that. I guess I should explain my opening sentence a bit more thoroughly. While I'm not a Yankess fan, I AM a fan of good, solid baseball. I consider good solid baseball players those who have a firm grasp on both the physical as well as the mental game of baseball. One of the first players I think of who has both components under control is Derek Jeter.

As with most years in his professional career, 2009 was an outstanding year for Jeter. First and foremost, he was a major contributor in the Yankess winning the World Series. Some of his 2009 personal accolades included:

1. Appearing in his 10th All-Star game
2. Winning his 5th World Series Ring
3. Has become the Yankees all time leader in hits wit 2,747
4. Won his 4th Gold Glove
5. Won his 4th Silver Slugger with a.334 batting average and.406 on base average
6. Won the Hank Aaron Award as the best hitter in the American League

If you get a chance to read Derek Jeter's book, The Life You Imagine, you will quickly learn what makes him tick. The mental game of baseball is high on Jeter's list of reasons why he has become a highly successful baseball player. I've added a couple quotes by Jeter below with some of my own commentary following.

"You have got to have fun. Regardless of how you look at it, we are playing a game. It is a business, it is our job, but I do not think you can do well unless you are having fun."

Derek Jeter

* Hard work, competing, and winning are what make baseball fun. Once in a while I hear younger players mutter under their breath about not having fun any more with baseball. Sometimes coaches can remove some of the fun from the game, however, I think typically players can regulate their own fun-meter while playing ball. Those who enjoying working on developing their hitting mechanics or pitching skills over and over again think baseball is fun. They know at some point they will enjoy the benefits of their hard work. Those who go head to head with tough competition think baseball is fun. And finally, those who continue to work through mistakes and achieve great things think baseball is fun. Fun doesn't always have to be easy. I tend to think Jeter would agree.

"We just want to win. That is the bottom line. I think a lot of times people may become content with one championship or a little bit of success, but we do not really reflect on what we have done in the past. We focus on the present."

Derek Jeter

* Getting stuck in what you did or did not do in the past will destroy your forward momentum. Lingering too long on your accolades from a couple years ago does nothing productive for you or your team in the present. I think Jeter has nailed this by saying that he doesn't reflect on what he or his team has done in the past. A new year is a new year. Another athlete who has talked about this quite a bit is Albert Pujols, who by the way won the Hank Aaron Award for the National League last year in 2009.

If you are looking for a couple good resources for developing the mental game, I'd suggest picking up the following books for starters. Both are fairly east to comprehend and will help you out in the baseball psychology department.

The Life You Imagine - Derek Jeter

Mind Gym - Gary Mack

How to Be a Three Hundred Hitter - This Single Tip Can Turn Your Child Into an All Star in No Time

How to Be a Three Hundred Hitter - This Single Tip Can Turn Your Child Into an All Star in No Time
By Jay Granat

Believe it or not this tip has nothing to do with grip, mechanics, balance, head position, weight transfer, open stance, closed stance, hitting to the opposite field, watching the ball, knowing the strike zone, hitting in the cage, bat speed, following through, or where your elbow is when you get into the box.

This tip is a vital thing for parents, coaches and young players to understand and remember the night before the game, the day of the game, in the dugout, in the on deck circle and in the batter's box.

Every week, parents contact me because their son or daughter is in a hitting slump.

Now, I have dozens of interventions which I use to help baseball players to break out of hitting slumps and to start to drive the ball with confidence, conviction, focus and optimism.

I work closely with a number of hitting coaches and we make sure the player is mechanically and physically sound.

One tip that I have told many parents and coaches over the years is very simple but it is exceedingly important. Realize that many kids and parents who seek out my help are struggling with their relationship with their child around their sport. In this case, it is baseball. And specifically, it is about hitting with more consistency, especially in pressure packed situations.

So, here is the tip: Your child needs to know on a deep and sincere level that that you love them whether they hit two hundred or whether they hit four hundred." Once your child believes this and feels this kind of unconditional love, he or she is set up to perform better at the plate. Make sure you communicate this message to your young player consistently and frequently. This will build confidence. It will help your child to relax and allow him to have fun at the plate and at the game.

Give it a try now.

Dr. Jay Granat has recently released 101 Ways To Break Out Of A Hitting Slump With Sport Psychology and Self-Hypnosis. Is Derek Jeter the Best Yankee Player to Ever Put on the PinStripes?

Is Derek Jeter the Best Yankee Player to Ever Put on the PinStripes?

By Brent Archer

If you haven't seen what Derek Jeter has done over the past 13 years, then you must have been sleeping. He has been the shining star in a somewhat clueless Yankee team at times throughout the year 2000. Once he came into the organization, he immediately made an impact helping bring a championship to the Yankees in 1996.

Many people thought he was just going to be a one year type of guy. They thought he was going to do great but eventually fall out of baseball or wind up in the minor leagues. But his coach Joe Torre had a lot of faith in him and knew he would be the rising star of the organization....and was he right!

In this past year, Derek Jeter past Lou Gerig for the all time Yankee hit leader position which is no easy feat to accomplish. Let's look back at all of the great Yankees that he had to battle with in order to get to the position he currently at.

Don Mattingly, which was one of the Yankee greats and such a dangerous hitter. Most pitchers always feared to face him.

Lou Gerig, who was also known as the "iron horse" who rarely ever missed a game and was a constant in the lineup behind the man I am going to mention next.

Babe Ruth, perhaps the best baseball player in the history of the game. This man alone brought baseball back and actually put it on the map.

These are only some of the names Derek Jeter had to pass in order to get where he is today. This shows he is a special player that will be in the Hall of Fame someday. He may even be the best Yankee to ever put on the uniform but that really relies on people's opinions.

Brent Archer has been writing articles for many months and has experience in many areas. His new interests is in his recently new website http://www.CustomBobbleHeadsShop.com where he provides the best custom bobble heads that everyone loves!

Collecting Derek Jeter Baseball Cards

By Alan Karpuch

It is no longer a wonder why most baseball fans are keen on collecting Derek Jeter baseball cards as the value of these are attributed to one of the best players in the present major league baseball of America. True enough, Derek Jeter is one of the most popular baseball players in the green diamond and has been compared to other great baseball players of the past.

It was in 1995 that he started his baseball career and ever since he has been making great waves. He has also been credited for leading his team to four World Series championships making the New York Yankees achieve its current high team status and greatness.

He has become so well- known that anyone who would like to gather information about him could just type in his name and obtain results from the internet. He is also currently known as one of the most highly paid shortstop players in baseball of all time, a figure that could reach up to twenty two million. Just as well, the search for Derek Jeter baseball cards has surged a lot of hits in the web quite a lot recently.

However, such immense popularity has also made it difficult in terms of obtaining Jeter baseball cards, most especially the earliest ones when he was still a rookie, or the ones which he have signed. Others bear the several hours waiting in the ballpark during batting practice just to have a card signed or know when Derek Jeter might hole a private autograph signing.

Obtaining Jeter baseball cards is a matter that one should also carefully think about since the price could come to be a bit pricey. Such cards are usually worth the player in display and also the age with which it has survived.

Alan provides information about Value Derek Jeter Rookie Card through his website on SP Derek Jeter Rookie Card.
