Baseball Tips on Hitting Slumps
Baseball Tips on Hitting Slumps
By Guest Author Jeffery A Wise
Hitting slumps is one aspect of baseball that players would like to prepare for in advance. It's an experience you want to avoid if at all possible. In my 14 years of playing, baseball tips on hitting slumps are the most important tips a player can receive.
Hitters need to develop a full-proof plan to avoid slumps and hit better. Keep in mind that pitchers are always looking for way to strike you out, so they gladly welcome your slumps. With the proper skill, patience and a little bit of luck, you can outsmart and beat the pitcher.
Anyone who plays baseball long enough is bound to get in a hitting slump. But those who are knowledgeable with baseball tips on hitting are better able to recognize the slump and find a way out quickly.
There are three main types of slumps we want to identify today.
Mechanical slumps - Caused by issues with the mechanics of your swing.
Mental slumps - Caused by losing confidence and doubting yourself.
Tough luck slumps - Tough luck with balls hit right at players several times in a row.
So how do you get out of these slumps? With mechanical slumps, go back to the basics of hitting and practice them every day. Keep your front shoulder and hips back and wait for the ball. You should also avoid jerking your head at all costs.
With mental slumps you need to take a breather and clear your mind. Don't get down on yourself and start to doubt your hitting abilities. Approach the plate each time with confidence and know that you will get the job done. Baseball is the great game of chances. If you mess up, you will get another chance in your next at-bat.
Tough luck slumps are the most annoying because you can have your mechanics down, your confidence up and drill the ball right at someone five times in a row. You can rip the ball and the other player makes a diving catch. It's a game of inches and this shouldn't get you down because before you know it, your hits will start falling. Be patient and keep working hard.
Learn how to recognize when you may be entering a hitting slump and put your newly acquired baseball tips on hitting to use. You may need a parent or a teammate to help you work through them. Rely on others if you want to have a successful baseball career. Don't be afraid to ask a veteran player or your coach to help you out. Keep your head up and have fun because baseball hitting is one of the most enjoyable activities in all sports. Don't let slumps get you down.
Jeffery A Wise invites you to learn the proven system of baseball tips on hitting so that you can learn how to hit a baseball better. Start learning today at http://www.baseballhittingtipsonline.com by reading our information, watching our videos and participating in our blog.

JP of BaseballTips.com Reviews the Derek Jeter Hurricane Machine Baseball Trainer
BaseballTips.com
The New Hurricane Backyard Swing Trainer (also known as the Hurricane Batting Trainer) has turned proven two-man target and stick training into an advanced home solo batting trainer. Thanks to the integrated ball and stick, players of all ages can practice alone anywhere they can swing a bat... and never have to worry about chasing balls.
The Hurricane batting trainer "provides instant feedback on your swing to teach proper mechanics and that means more hits when you play," says 7-time All-Star and Hurricane user Derek Jeter. He's right, as the machine's unique multi-twist design does make it easy to tell how well you're hitting: more turns means more solid and powerful ball contact.
Used by pro, college and high school teams for years, the Hurricane is easy to set up and adjust for height. It can be used for static tee practice or as a dynamic moving target. No matter how you use it, the Hurricane is a swing trainer that will improve bat speed and power!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JP Says:I'm extremely pleased to offer the Hurricane Category 4 Solo Swing Trainer!
This reasonably priced hitting trainer can be used for baseball or softball, either indoors or outside, and is portable enough to take to the practice field. It's also fully adjustable for all ages and sizes of players!
Hitting the Ball Well Happens When:
First- The player is taught proper hitting mechanics, which is always a work in progress.
Next- Players repeat these good mechanical swings over and over and over until they become so natural that success is merely a next step to the next level.
The Hurricane will allow a single player the ability to get the hundreds and thousands of swings necessary to maximize his improvement. all in one self contained unit!
There is no better way for a ballplayer to achieve and repeat these good mechanics than by having the ability to walk out his own back door to take these swings.
The tremendous number of swings that it takes to commit these mechanics to good muscle memory takes many days, weeks and months. Approaching perfection takes much longer. Without this effort, even natural athletes are not nearly as likely to succeed.
And every year we see these natural athletes leave the game prematurely!
If you are a player who realizes the value of Tee work and Soft Toss and Front Toss stations, you'll find The Hurricane batting trainer an extremely valuable and economical tool.
When used as a Tee station you will take five to eight swings per minute. When used to simulate live hitting you will take eight to twelve swings per minute. (The Hurricane easily adjusts for strike height, ball return speed and all contact areas.)
The Ultimate Backyard Training Aid
The ultimate backyard baseball training aid consists of a backyard batting cage with a pitching machine. For those of you considering this investment. please check out our many batting cages and pitching machines.
For those without the space or budget, I would be all over our New Hurricane Backyard Swing Trainer!
Small price, self contained, portable, requires minimal space and no catch net is needed. It is well built, will take punishment and will last for many seasons.
Bonus Drill Book!
We will include 9 drills designed for you to work some of the most important aspects of your swing! These drills are intended to be performed as a 20 minute workout with your Hurricane and will help you perfect your swing mechanics.
2 More Bonuses!

Top Baseball Training Aids - Which Are These?
Top Baseball Training Aids - Which Are These?
By Guest Author Mike Singh
Baseball training aids are an effective way to learn the skills you need to achieve stardom. They can aid in muscular development, hand eye coordination, as well as on posture and instruction on skills. But, which are the best baseball training aids to take your game to the next level? Here are a few ways to improve your game.
* Training videos - One of the best ways to learn what the pros know is to use videos that they create. Many of the professional players and coaches are more than willing to share their experiences about techniques and tips that work. Learn these by watching and reacting to videos. The problem with these, though, is that you don't have someone watching what you are doing and correcting your stance or your aim. So, watch them with someone else and allow them to tell you if you are actually doing what the video says. This is an all-year-round tool to benefit from.
* Summer Camp - Probably the very best option to think about investing is are baseball camps. While it used to be punishment to go off to camp in the summer, now it doesn't have to be. Baseball camps are offered for virtually all age groups depending on your needs and skills. Some may even just meet at your local baseball diamond too. The benefit here is one on-one-training that you can not get anywhere else unless you have a personal coach, of course.
* Learn To Swing Like The Pros - Another tool to use is a pitching machine. Now, it is very important that you purchase a high quality product, set it up right and use it regularly if you plan to get a good amount of improvement from a piece of equipment. But, if you are having trouble making contact with the ball, this is a great way to do just that.
* Pitching techniques - In order to know how to pitch, you need to learn the skills needed. To do this, the most effective way to do so is to use a pitching cd to help you learn. This is also an effective baseball training aid for the coaches trying to teach.
Other things like practice gloves, fielding machines can help your infielder, your catcher, your batter and virtually ever other person on the team. When it comes to learning, we all can use these tools to have a better game.
On http://www.1-stop-baseball.com/ you will more about discount pitching machines & little league baseball uniforms.

4 Important Questions and Answers About the Derek Jeter Hurricane Baseball Trainer
QUESTION: What is involved in adjusting the height or speed of the Hurricane Machine?
ANSWER: The height is adjusted by loosening the height adjustment knob, raising or losering the machine to the desired height, and tightening the height adjustment knob. This should take less that 20 seconds to do. Speed adjustment is done by added a Powerband to increase speed and removing a Powerband to decrease speed. Make sure to always connect the Powerband to the bottom hook-bar first and then to the top hook. This prevents a Powerband from "popping" you in the face should your hand slip off of it when you are connecting it to the hook. Speed adjustment takes about 2 minutes.
QUESTION: How fast does the Hurricane Machine ball travel? What pitch speeds does the machine simulate?
ANSWER: The Hurricane ball return speed is determined by the power and bat speed of the batter. With two Powerbands in place, and a average high school hitter swinging the bat, the machine's return speed will simulate speeds reaching up to 60 to 65 mph. With younger players, the speeds simulated may average 45 to 60 mph depending on the power and bat speed of the batter. The harder the ball is hit; the faster the ball's speed when it returns to the batter.
QUESTION: Do you hit the ball moving or should the batter let it stop moving before each swing?
ANSWER: The real beauty of the Hurricane Machine is that you can do both. Players love to hit the fast moving ball. Most of the drills outlined in the owners manual are moving ball drills. However, some of the isolation drills that allow the batter to hit specific pitch locations are performed by allowing the ball to stop before each drill. I would say that 90% of the drills and workouts on the Hurricane Machine are fast ball moving drills. These are highly productive when it come to improving skill, building confidence and increasing bat speed.
QUESTION: What is the number one thing I need to make sure my player knows about the Hurricane before he or she uses it?
ANSWER: I would say that there are actually three things that I would tell them. First, they should always make sure no one is near when they are swinging the bat. They should clear the area before they begin to work. Second, they must realize that the Hurricane operates with a "wrapping and unwrapping" action. They must always allow the Hurricane Machine Powerbands to unwrap between bat swings. If they do not allow the machine to unwind before they swing again, they will stress and break the Powerbands. And last, I would make sure that they take time between swings to reset and assume a proper stance everytime. The Hurricane Machine is so easy and convenient that many times kids tend to work to fast. They must make themselves slow down, get in a proper stance, and take a quality swing each time. The emphasis should be on QUALITY and not QUANTITY when it comes to practice swings.

How to Run a Great Baseball Practice
How to Run a Great Baseball Practice
By Guest Author Jack Perconte
Of course, the number one key to running a great baseball practice is organization. Legendary basketball coach John Wooden was famous for mapping out every detail of his practices, with every second of practice accounted for. This may be a little extreme for coaches of youth baseball but the point is that coaches who are organized will get the most out of their practice time. Baseball coaches should map out their preseason practices to be sure they cover every important aspect of baseball for the age of the player. As the season progresses, coaches can gear their practice time to cover the areas most needed, based on their team weaknesses. Following are some points that coaches should consider to run a great baseball practice:
1. Get in the habit of starting practice on time - parents who bring their child late will get the message early in the season that a late player will be missing out on some instruction.
2. Do not neglect warm-up time. This time is a very important time for coaches to teach the fundamentals.
3. Get help from assistant coaches and interested parents but be sure to inform them of the correct fundamentals that they should be watching for and teaching.
4. Keep players busy - players should not be standing around very often. Small group stations are recommended when coaches have help and game action drills or play is recommended when help from assistants is not available.
5. Keep stations relatively short so boredom does not set in and try to cover as many aspects of the game as time allows each practice.
6. Mix up the pattern of each practice - for example, if you work on hitting first one practice, work on defense first the next.
7. Safety is paramount at all times so don't forget helmets, etc... Use of softer balls for younger aged players can really help teaching all phases of the game.
8. Kids love competition and contests - the use of those when players begin to get bored, or tired, can spur enthusiasm. Using contests as incentive to work hard early in practice, with the idea of competition (games) later in practice when players work hard, can be a good idea.
9. When having contests, be sure to handicap them some so each player, or group of players, have a chance at winning. Make sure and let players know that a handicap system is in place for fairness.
10. Reward hard working "practice players" and not just star game players. Rewards for best defensive, offensive and hustle player(s) of each practice will spur good effort in practice.
11. Try to give the same amount of attention to each player. Players who feel slighted will be affected and other players will generally notice the slight of another player also.
12. Give homework. Inform players and their parents of the things you would like them to work on before returning the next time.
13. Long drawn out talks are never recommended. Bringing in a guest speaker or coach can be memorable for players.
Finally, coaches who remain positive, informative and hopeful will have the best chance of developing good players, as well as fun loving baseball players.

Baseball Tips on Hitting - How to Overcome Two Very Common Baseball Hitting Problems!
Baseball Tips on Hitting - How to Overcome Two Very Common Baseball Hitting Problems!
By Larry Cicchiello
Tension Is A Hitter's Worst Enemy!
I've heard this expression dozens of times and could not agree more. No, let's make that hundreds of times. If you have tension in your swing, it is next to impossible to hit the ball effectively. On the other hand, relaxing is a great asset to have.
An outstanding baseball coach I know has his hitters take a deep breath before every pitch and go into relax mode. Please note that I said outstanding coach and not good or very good. It is often referred to as "the calm before the storm." Hitting a baseball well on a consistent basis is NOT an easy chore. If you have tension before and during the swing, it makes it an almost impossible chore. A smooth and gracious swing is what you want to strive for and tension will make it very difficult.
Like I've mentioned before, sometimes a slight waggle at the plate will help you to relax. Or you can wiggle your fingers on the bat while waiting for the pitch. It's very difficult to have your body tense up if your body is moving. Learning how to relax at the plate should be very helpful to you!
You Must Be Short To The Ball!
1. You must go from point "A" where you are loaded up, to point "B" where you are making contact, in a straight line. The very beginning of the swing is NOT level at all. It is a DOWNWARD movement when going from A to B and NOT a horizontal movement. Way too many players level out their swing at the start. The reason it is such a common problem is because they have heard the words "level swing" hollered out to them since they were eight years old. I wish I had a dime for every time I've heard a coach, parent or teammate holler those two words out. Only at the point of contact should the swing level out and NOT before that. You can not lose a valuable fraction of a second if it takes a fast ball a fraction of a second to get to the catcher's mitt. Look at it as simple math.
2. Another possibility for your swing to be "long and looping" may be that you are dropping your hands at the beginning of the swing. This can cause you to be "long" to the ball and cause your bat to have a slight drag.
3. You may be pushing your hands out too far away from your body and that will create a longer swing. Remember the expression, "hands back and bat forward."
4. You must keep your front shoulder closed. If you open the front shoulder too early, it will cause your bat to drag through the hitting zone. This is often referred to as "casting" the bat and not swinging the bat. "Casting" is what you do when you go fishing and not when you swing at a baseball.
Let's face it. There are hundreds of baseball tips on hitting. Having a tension free swing, being "short to the ball" and keeping the front shoulder closed should be right near the top of your list! They are three things that are absolutely critical for successful baseball hitting.

By Nick Dixon
As a high school baseball coach, I see players of all sizes, shapes, and ability levels try out for our JV and varsity teams. Baseball is the one sport that will never be ruled totally by size, speed, and power. I am not saying that power, speed and size do not help a player. What I am saying is that having certain physical attributes is not the key to baseball success. There is a place for all body builds to succeed. In this article, I discuss what I feel is the #1 key to a player becoming a prospect to make the high school team.
I think the #1 key to making the high school junior varsity and varsity teams is how much skill building homework a player has done during his youth baseball playing years. The key to becoming a stand-out player is how much practice a player gets year round and between regular team practices during the season.
Time after time, I see proof that the players that excel in baseball are the players that put forth that extra effort in making sure that their bat, glove, and arm are worked enough to help them reach their fullest potential as a player. It is hard for a player to reach their potential if they do not get proper instruction, receive adequate practice time, and workout enough to make their baseball skills stronger and their baseball play instinctive.
Players can not expect to excel if the only times that they ever pick up a, a ball or bat are at team practices during baseball season. Achievements in baseball are just like achievements in life. You get what you deserve. You deserve what you earn. The more time and effort that a player and his parents put into baseball in the early years is crucial to success in high school. In most cases, the outstanding high school prospects are the players that have baseball training equipment in their backyard or that have received baseball batting or pitching instruction from qualified baseball instructors.
To be a big time prospect, you need to throw, hit, and field in workouts on your own as well as with the team. Going above and beyond is the key to becoming a top rated baseball prospect. If you are unwilling to commit the time, put forth the energy, or stay on a regular practice routine, your chances of becoming an accomplished high school player can be reduced.
